Description

Join us for an interactive day discussing advanced anaesthesia!

Throughout the day we will look at how to manage the complicated and critical cases; with particular focus on anaesthetic preparation to minimise risk, and how to deal with those scary situations when things go wrong.

The day will comprise of 4 interactive sessions including:

Session 1: Depth of anaesthesia

  • Anaesthetic settings and how to use CRIs to achieve the best plane of anaesthesia

Session 2: Monitoring the cardiovascular system

  • What do I do when things go wrong?

Session 3: Monitoring the respiratory system

  • What do I do when things go wrong?

Session 4: Case discussions

  • Delegates are asked to submit details of any difficult or complicated anaesthetic cases they have dealt with. During this session Dr Drynan will go through these cases and their complications, and discuss techniques on how to manage them. All cases will be presented anonymously.

With an improved understanding of anaesthesia and how to manage the more complex cases, our delegates will leave feeling more confident and in control when faced with these challenging situations.

Learning objectives:

  • Develop skills and knowledge regarding general anaesthesia in small animal practice, understand how and when things go wrong.
  • Be able to develop effective and safe anaesthesia and analgesia plans for patients to minimise risks.
  • Improve confidence when dealing with anaesthetic emergencies, thus enhancing patient care and case outcomes.
  • By working through a series of case examples with peers, understand how to evaluate previous anaesthetics, find out what went wrong, and understand how to learn from this and make improvements to future anaesthesia plans.
