Currently, the availability of Continuing Education courses in Australia is limited, with the majority being offered as online ‘webinars’. At Platinum CPD, we feel very strongly that the most effective way for a vet or vet nurse to develop professionally is to complete CE courses in real time, in a real space, with real people. Not only will you gain the required accreditation for your CPD development, you will also be interacting with fellow vets. It’s a fantastic way to meet people with similar clinical interests and a great way to network and make professional contacts. The team behind Platinum CPD are practicing vets, who are passionate about bringing the highest quality of continuing education to veterinary professionals.
Meet the Team
Dr Emma McConnell | BVM&S MMedVet DipECEIM MRCVS
Emma graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2006, after moving to the UK in 1999. Following two years in small animal and mixed practice, she undertook a 12 month internship in equine medicine and surgery at the Royal Veterinary College, London.
Having developed a passion for equine medicine and critical care, Emma moved to South Africa to take up a position as Resident in Equine Internal Medicine at Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital, University of Pretoria. On completion she spent several months as a lecturer at the university before returning to Perth in 2013.
Emma has a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine and is a Registered Specialist in Equine Medicine and a Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. She currently works in an equine referral hospital, and enjoys spending time with her husband Richard and their adorable Chihuahua Speedy G.
Dr Sheryl Kidd | BVSc MRCVS
Sheryl grew up in England and graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Bristol University in 2003. After a couple of years doing mixed practice in rural Leicestershire, she decided to concentrate on small animal medicine and surgery.
In 2005, Sheryl accepted a position running a small animal branch clinic for a large corporate group. Whilst there she developed a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and moved to a large surgical referral centre. After a busy five years there, Sheryl moved to Perth with her husband Shaun and their Rottweiller Solomon.
After very sadly losing Solomon, Sheryl and Shaun adopted two little Chihuahuas – Roxy and Arnie, from a rescue centre. They are also kept very busy with their active toddler Sebastian!
Dr Eliza O'Callaghan | BSc BVMS VS
Eliza graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Murdoch University in 2017. Eliza is currently working in her first job as a veterinarian in small animal practice in Perth, Western Australia.
Although only at the beginning of her career, Eliza enjoys all things related to small animal medicine and surgery, and is passionate about continued education becoming more available and accessible in Western Australia.
When she is not working she spends her time reading as many books as she can squeeze into a day, playing football (AFL), or being entertained by her cheeky cat, Simon.
